Shipyard Insurance

Any shipyard environment is high risk; the value of the vessel itself, which is commonly the yard's contractual responsibility whilst in their care; the activities implicit in shipbuilding and repair; the ongoing presence of third parties who are in some way associated with the unit, crew, owners, superintendents, site teams, sub contractors and surveyors, all contribute to the yard's exposure.

JLT have long been regarded as one of the most knowledgeable and experienced brokers in placing risks on behalf of Shipyard clients, whether the yard in question is dedicated to constructing new vessels, or for the ongoing maintenance, repair or conversion of navigating units.

When a new or converted vessel is handed over to its owner, it is crucial that at the moment the risk and responsibility for the unit passes from one party to another that insurance protection provided by yards and then owners / operators is seamless.
